HERMES has produced a series of briefing documents - the Deep-Sea Briefs - on various topics relating to our research and issues affecting the deep sea environment. These documents are intended to inform a wide range of audiences, but are principally intended to serve as an initial information source for policy-makers and government advisors. The initial set of briefs comprise 5 documents that address the issues of climate change in the deep sea, valuation of ecosystem goods and servies, mapping the seafloor, the importance of microbes in the ocean, and deep-sea biodiversity. The series will be extended over the coming months, and will continue through the forthcoming HERMIONE project.
